The Trappist Beer Achel Blonde is a top-fermented trappist beer, brewed by the De Achelse Kluis brewery (Belgium). Amber-blonde in colour, this beer develops a white froth which is moderately persistent and not very tight. The nose is aromatic, round and smooth with an obvious presence of esters and the pleasingly mild malt evokes fully ripened grapes during late harvests. On the palate, it is initially pleasant, full-bodied, round, velvety and smooth with a bitter and pungent edge, reminiscent of pink grapefruit peel at the peak of ripeness. The finish is long, ample-bodied and there is a lasting bitterness that is not too dry. The dominant note is the honeyed, malty smoothness. This is a blonde, highly distinctive triple-style trappist beer that is sure to please those partial to mild, strong and aromatic beers alike.
